Winning comp after comp as a child, MissA set her sights high at a young age. Scouted by the Royal Academy of Dance before she was 3yrs of age, the stage always felt like home. Writing her first song at the age of 7, MissA was blessed with the gift of music and dance. "I can't tell you how much I loved Michael Jackson growing up, here I was this little ballerina busting out the moonwalk and ripping the ballet bun out of my hair every chance I got." Born in Australia to a supermodel Mother and a Ballroom Jive champion, she got the looks and the moves, so it was no surprise that with those genes, she hit the modelling scene at a young age, being spotted shopping with her Mother. "The modelling is fun, but for me, it's all about the music." MissA kept at it, school girl by day, singing, dancing and songwriting by night,  readily sought after for gig after gig with her pure voice, incredible dance ability and undeniable stage presence. Still in her teens, Miss A started up her own talent studios specialising in Street, RnB, Hip Hop, Pop, Dance and Techno, and her studio quickly grew into the place to study dance, and the indusrty stood up and took note of what MissA was achieving in the dance world. The FM 92.9 Live Listener Party, in conjunction with Sanity, is giving music buffs the opportunity to see the popular new artist perform live, here in Tamworth, without having to travel to Sydney, where most musicians and singers launch their careers. Miss A will be performing a number of tracks off her debut album at a special gig in the Family Hotel's Dom's function room from 6:30pm, with party-goers having the chance to score some cool prizes including signed Miss A posters, albums and singles. FM 92.9 morning radio announcer Stephen Walter said it is a first for this area as the majority of rising musicians choose to launch their career in the larger cities. "We've had a lot of feedback from playing her new single, Sexy UR, (Sexy You Are) and hope this launch will show others the opportunities that come from launching their music here in the north-west." "I wanted to launch the single in Tamworth because it was something no pop singer had ever done before," Miss A said. "The response to the single was something I certainly wasn't expecting." "I didn't have any preconceived ideas before I arrived, so I think the response totally blew me away. In fact I was really over-whelmed at how the single Sexy UR was received by everyone." She said her target audience was young people aged seven to thirty years, however she was surprised to have such a wide appeal with even senior cits really enjoy her music. "It was awesome," she said. "I didn't know what to expect with launching in Tamworth. I can definately say it was a huge success and I encourage more Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane artists to try it." At a special exclusive launch party at the Family Hotel on Thursday night Miss A performed a number of tracks off her debut album Flirtatious, including Sexy UR and a revamped sexier cover of the Pearl Jam hit Better Man. Miss A added that she was the only Australian artist to have been given approval by the US band to cover their increasingly popular hit. "They said yes in a matter of days and we were the only artists including a number of big name American singers who had approached them to cover the single." "I couldn't believe it." Miss gets her man Miss A decided she wanted a better man and found Eddie Vedder. The stunning singer/songwriter, has been given permission by the Pearl Jam singer to perform and record the hit Better Man. Vedder has been approached by at least two of America's biggest female artists, but it was MissA who got the nod after she sent him a demo and said: "Love the version. Send me a copy of the album when it's done." Miss A said she always wanted to hear the song sung by a woman. "Every woman relates to it," she said. Better Man is one of 15 tracks on her new album, Flirtatious, and it is the only cover. Miss A will launch her debut album with a performance at the M Bar this Saturday night. She will perform four songs in the main bar including her new single Sexy UR, from about 10:30pm. Her guitarist for the night is well-known Adam Miller, who recently supported Tommy Emmanuel at the Civic Theatre. Miss A's producer Kevin Kehoe, who has worked with stars like The Rockmelons, Deni Hines and Silverchair, will also be attending. Miss A has done runway modelling for Vogue and Wayne Cooper. A singer and dancer, she was also a state gymnast, but grew too tall for the sport. Miss A choreographed her own video clip to the single Sexy UR.
